When someone tried to sign my old band to a management deal saying he was friends with Pete and all that. I asked Pete about it at a show and he told me didnt know who he was. He also asked for the contract to have his lawyer look over. He didnt have to do anything else but he did. So I gave him a copy and my number a week later he called my house. My mom freaked out, cause she knew who he was and she actully liked him music. He spent the next hour going over the contract with me and gave me a ton of advice on what I should do with my band. ( I wish I followed it all!) I was just a 17? year old kid from Queens and he did this for me!? I kept his name on my caller ID for a LONG time. If I prayed to God, it would have been him.
I can not help but cry as im writing this. Its been a few years since ive seen him and the gang. But that man had such an effect on my teen years. I miss him dearly, knowing Ill never get to ask him for advice, get a call from him or bump into him at a random show some where in the village again. Whenever I ride to Coney Island im singing "I took the D train to Brighton Beach." He was as real as it came. He didnt bullshit you, he knew his shit stunk just like everyone elses. He didnt have to do anything for me but he did and Ill NEVER forget that.
Thanks for the encouragement and memories Peter!
I Love & miss you,
Omar Cordy
